The EcoJet is a concept car designed to run on biodiesel fuel, using a Honeywell LTS101 based gas turbine instead of a reciprocating engine. The engine is normally used in helicopters and provides 650 horsepower and 583 ft-lb of torque. Drive is to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transaxle adapted from a C5 Corvette. An automatic transmission had to be used, because the turbine requires a constant load and operating a clutch with a manual gearbox would cause the turbine to overspeed. This concept car was the result of a collaboration between Jay Leno and General Motors, Honeywell, Alcoa and BASF. Unlike other concept cars, it was meant to be driven on the road in a regular fa…

Conjunction between the Ladyfinger Likeness and Human Normal Body Temperature in Fahrenheit. The purpose of this study was to show the conjunction between the ladyfinger likeness and human normal body temperature. Normal body temperature in human is the temperature range in Homo sapiens. Normal body temperature in human ranged as 97.7 to 99.5 ºF. It is balanced by the process of thermoregulation. The optimum temperature in the human is 98.6 ºF which is 37.0 in degrees. Ladyfinger is the vegetable which is used to cook. Ladyfinger also improves the vision quality because in it vitamin A is present. During the project designing, we designed the project related to the linkage of likeness of la…

Autoregulation of Renal Blood Flow in Dogs at Normal Body Temperature and at 27°C. 1. Dogs cooled to 27°C were compared with control dogs maintained at 38°C. The mean arterial blood pressure, renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate were lower in the hypothermic animals. 2. The relation between mean arterial blood pressure and renal blood flow was investigated. Autoregulation of renal blood flow occurred in the kidneys of normothermic and hypothermic animals. Thus the reduction in renal blood flow during hypothermia is not due simply to the fall in mean arterial blood pressure. 3. Similarities between recordings of renal blood flow obtained at 38°C and 27°C suggest that its autoregul…

Utility of Infrared Thermography in Dogs with Osteoarthritis.. Objective, noninvasive biomarkers of joint inflammation or pain are needed for dogs with osteoarthritis (OA). This prospective, observational study investigated whether body surface temperature quantified by infrared thermography was associated with joint pain and/or radiographic osteoarthritis (rOA) in dogs. Using thermal images, 14 regions of interest (ROI) were created for bilateral limb joints and the vertebral column for each dog and the mean temperature was calculated for each ROI. Orthopedic examination and radiographs classified each joint/region as affected or unaffected by rOA, pain, or both, called symptomatic OA (sxO…

Infrared thermography in clinically healthy dogs shows body region and haircoat variability.. Infrared thermography quantifies body surface temperature with growing applications in dogs, particularly among rehabilitation practitioners; however, incomplete understanding of normal temperature variation in healthy dogs limits interpretation. This study characterized body surface temperature distribution and evaluated factors influencing thermographic measurements in a heterogeneous group of healthy dogs. Client-owned, adult dogs were prospectively enrolled and underwent standardized thermographic imaging, with regions of interest defined for trunk, neck, and spine. Mean surface temperatures we…

Salivary cortisol is an unreliable correlate of serum cortisol in adult pet dogs and assistance dog puppies.. Cortisol is widely used in mammals as a measure of HPA axis response. To estimate response to an acute stressor, minimize pain and ease sample collection, salivary cortisol has become preferred over serum cortisol across a variety of species. This includes domestic dogs in which research with laboratory dogs initially demonstrated the predicted relationship between cortisol concentrations in serum and salivary levels sampled within minutes of each other. The Model Population Hypothesis suggests a laboratory dog should be physiologically representative of all dogs. We provide a criti…

Ocular temperature measured by infrared thermography in dogs varies with biological and environmental factors.. Non-contact temperature assessment is highly valuable for screening animal populations, but its performance can be influenced by various external and biological variables. This study aimed to quantify the association between eye temperature (ET) and rectal temperature (RT) in dogs, and to identify physiological and environmental factors associated with these readings. Field study: ET was obtained with a thermal camera up to 3 times per visit (~10-min intervals), followed by RT measurement. Eye temperature was defined as the highest temperature recorded from either eye. A linear mi…
