Slavery was abolished in much of Europe and the Americas. The First Industrial Revolution, though it began in the late 18th century, expanded beyond its British homeland for the first time during the 19th century, particularly remaking the economies and societies of the Low Countries, France, the Rhineland, Northern Italy, and the Northeastern United States. A few decades later, the Second Industrial Revolution led to ever more massive urbanization and much higher levels of productivity, profit, and prosperity, a pattern that con…

Turanism, also known as Turanianism, pan-Turanism or pan-Turanianism, is a pan-nationalist political movement built around pseudoscientific claims of biological and linguistic connections between various ethnic groups of Eurasia. It revolves around the notion that Turkic, Mongolic, Tungusic, and Uralic peoples share close cultural, ethnic, and linguistic bonds due to Inner and Central Asian origins. Historically, one of its central components was the proposal of a Ural-Altaic language family, which has since been abandoned. Supporters of Turanism propose political unity among these groups, chiefly to oppose the cultural and political influences of the Indo-Europeans of Europe, West Asia, an…

The Austro-Hungarian Bank as a prototype of the independent central bank in Central Europe in the first half of the 20th century – an analysis of bank statutes. The Austro-Hungarian Bank was the prototype for the regulation of the legal status of central banks in the newly established states in Central Europe after the First World War. This relationship is overlooked in the Polish literature, as the genesis of Polish central banking is based solely on the Bank of Poland, founded in 1820. The exemplary nature of the Austro-Hungarian Bank is confirmed by a common core approach analysis of its articles of association with the articles of the Austrian National Bank, the Czechoslovak National Ba…
