The Inglewood Oil Field in Los Angeles County, California, is the 18th-largest oil field in the state and the second-most productive in the Los Angeles Basin. Discovered in 1924 and in continuous production ever since, in 2012 it produced approximately 2.8 million barrels of oil from some five hundred wells. Since 1924 it has produced almost 400 million barrels, and the California Department of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) has estimated that there are about 30 million barrels remaining in the field's one thousand acres, recoverable with present technology. The field is operated by Sentinel Peak Resources, which acquired it in their purchase of Freeport McMoRan's onshore Califor…

California is a state in the Western United States. It is bordered by Oregon to the north, the Mexican state of Baja California to the south, Nevada to the east, Arizona to the southeast, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. With a population of over 39 million across an area of 163,696 square miles (423,970 km2), it is the most populous U.S. state and the third largest by land area. Before European colonization, California was one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse areas in pre-Columbian North America. European exploration in the 16th and 17th centuries led to the colonization by the Spanish Empire. The area became a part of Mexico in 1821, as a result of its successful war fo…

A Simplified Modeling Study of Vickers East Waterflood Project in Inglewood Field. ABSTRACT This paper describes and evaluates the application of stream tube modeling techniques to historical and projected waterflood response for the Vickers East reservoir in the Inglewood field. The technique was successful in predicting the past production history and WOR behavior through the initial flood and the subsequent realignments. Vickers East, like most other L. A. Basin reservoirs, has a complex geology. It is characterized by up to 1400 feet of gross thickness, cut by numerous faults and composed of very thin sand and shale beds. The field has been under waterflood since 1955 and had three real…

After 1900, California continued to grow rapidly and soon became an agricultural and industrial power. The economy was widely based on specialty agriculture, oil, tourism, shipping, film, and after 1940 advanced technology such as aerospace and electronics industries – along with a significant military presence. The films and stars of Hollywood helped make the state the "center" of worldwide attention. California became an American cultural phenomenon; the idea of the "California Dream" as a portion of the larger American Dream of finding a better life drew 35 million new residents from the start to the end of the 20th century (1900–2010). Silicon Valley became the world's center for comput…
