Pełniejszy materiał źródłowy / excerpt
The beluga whale () or the white whale (Delphinapterus leucas) is an Arctic and sub-Arctic cetacean. It is one of two living members of the family Monodontidae, along with the narwhal, and the only member of the genus Delphinapterus. It is also known as the sea canary, due to its high-pitched calls; and the melonhead, though that more commonly refers to the melon-headed whale, which is an oceanic dolphin. The beluga is adapted to life in the Arctic, with anatomical and physiological characteristics that differentiate it from other cetaceans. Amongst these are its all-white colour that gives the whale its name; and the absence of a dorsal fin, which allows it to swim under ice with ease. It possesses a distinctive protuberance at the front of its head which houses an echolocation organ called the melon, which in this species is large and deformable. The beluga's body size is between that of a dolphin and a True's beaked whale, with males growing up to 5.5 m (18 ft) long and weighing up to 1,600 kg (3,530 lb). This whale has a stocky body. Like many cetaceans, a large percentage of its weight is blubber (subcutaneous fat). Its sense of hearing is highly developed and its echolocation allows it to move about and find breathing holes under sheet ice. Belugas are gregarious and form groups of 10 animals on average, although during the summer, they can gather in the hundreds or even…

Microsatellite Genotyping of Beluga Whale Samples v1. This microsatellite genotyping preparation method is used in our lab for routine genotyping analysis of beluga whale (Delphinapterus leucas) biopsy samples. It involves the use of 18 primer pairs for the amplification of 18 nuclear microsatellite loci, 17 of which are informative polymorphic loci and one* of which is used as a "peacemaker" locus to ensure genotyping accuracy. Loci are amplified across six multiplex reactions, which have been optimized for performance in our lab. The loci used are: EV14 (Valsecchi & Amos, 1996) EV37Mn (Valsecchi & Amos, 1996) EV94 (Valsecchi & Amos, 1996) FCB1 (Buchanan et al., 1996) FCB3 (Buchanan et al.…

Scene classification in dance art using deep learning with squeeze and excitation networks and the Advanced Beluga Whale Optimization Algorithm.. Automation of scene classification within artistic domains has become more prevalent due to the advent of deep learning. This study presented a new framework for classifying dance scenes using an adapted Squeeze-and-Excitation Network (SENet) and optimized hyperparameters with Advanced Beluga Whale Optimization Algorithm (ABWOA). The SENet architecture allows for redistributing features by adaptively focusing on the most discriminative visual features (e.g., posture, costume), and ABWOA efficiently optimizes hyper-parameters improve convergence an…

Trajectory Planning of Spraying Robot Based on Multi Strategy Improved Beluga Optimization Algorithm.. In this paper, a trajectory planning method based on an improved beluga whale optimization algorithm is proposed for the trajectory planning of plasma-spraying robot with complex surfaces. Firstly, the system architecture, kinematics model and trajectory planning constraints of the 6-DOF mobile plasma robot are analyzed, including kinematics, dynamics and environmental constraints, and a constrained-objective optimization function with time optimization, energy consumption and smoothness as objectives is established. Secondly, aiming at the shortage of the balance between global search and…

Enhancing Road Sensor Data Fidelity via FMD Decomposition for Accurate Traffic Flow Prediction Using EBWO-Optimized LGC-BiGRU.. In resource-constrained intelligent transportation systems (ITSs), raw road sensor data is often affected by non-stationary noise and outliers, which severely reduces the accuracy of traffic flow prediction. To address this, this paper proposes a hybrid prediction framework that integrates Frequency Mode Decomposition (FMD), Enhanced Beluga Whale Optimization (EBWO), and the Logistic-Gaussian Circle-based Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit (LGC-BiGRU). The proposed FMD module introduces an adaptive frequency domain segmentation mechanism, which effectively separate…

The narwhal (Monodon monoceros) is a species of toothed whale native to the Arctic. It is the only member of the genus Monodon and one of two living representatives of the family Monodontidae. The narwhal is a stocky cetacean with a relatively blunt snout, a large melon, and a shallow ridge in place of a dorsal fin. Males of this species have a spiralled tusk, which is a protruding left canine, that is 1.5–3.0 m (4.9–9.8 ft) long and thought to function as a secondary sexual characteristic, a weapon, a tool for feeding, or a sensory organ. Specially adapted slow-twitch muscles, along with the jointed neck vertebrae and shallow dorsal ridge allow for easy movement through the Arctic environm…

The Airbus A300-600ST (Super Transporter) or Beluga is a specialised wide-body airliner used to transport aircraft parts and outsize cargoes. It received the official name of Super Transporter early on, but its nickname, after the beluga whale, which it resembles, gained popularity and has since been officially adopted. Due to Airbus's manufacturing facilities being dispersed, the company had a long term need to transport sizeable components, such as wings and fuselage sections, to their final assembly lines. This had been met by a small fleet of Aero Spacelines "Super Guppies", but these aircraft were aged and increasingly maintenance-intensive to keep in operation. While several different…
