The open science movement has expanded the uses of scientific output beyond specialized academic circles. Open science enables broader communities to learn from each other and informs practice and learning across diverse fields. The non-academic audience for journals and other scientific outputs has always been significant but has not been captured by the leading metrics of scientific reception, which favor citation data. The Subversive Proposal to generalize the practice was posted in 1994. The term "open access" itself was first formulated in three public statements in the 2000s: the Budapest Open Access Initiative in February 2002, the Bethesda Statement on Open Access Publis…

Research trends and hotspots in BK polyomavirus infection in kidney transplantation: A bibliometric analysis.. Background Kidney transplantation has consistently faced challenges due to BK polyomavirus (BKPyV) infection. We aimed to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to identify research trends and hotspots related to BKPyV infection in kidney transplantation. Methods Publications concerning BKPyV infection in kidney transplantation were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection spanning 1976 to 2024. We conducted bibliometric and visual analyses using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package bibliometrix. Results By June 12, 2024, a total of 1809 studies on this topic wer…
