The continent of Asia has a diversified developing economy across the largest continental land-mass in the world. It comprises about 4.7 billion people (60% of the world population) living in 50 different nations. Asia is the fastest growing economic region, as well as the largest continental economy by both nominal GDP and PPP-adjusted GDP. As in all world regions, the wealth of Asia differs widely between, and within, states. This is due to its vast size, meaning a huge range of different cultures, environments, historical ties and government systems. The largest economies in Asia in terms of PPP gross domestic product (GDP) are China, India, Japan, Indonesia, Turkey, South Korea, Egypt,…

Taiwan has a highly developed free-market economy. It is the 22nd-largest in the world by nominal GDP and 20th-largest by purchasing power parity. Its GDP per capita (PPP) ranks highly at 8th in the world, while its nominal GDP per capita is 30th in the world. This large purchasing power parity adjustment has been attributed to Taiwan's localized supply chains, relatively low cost of living, and in particular to accusations that the New Taiwan dollar is systemically undervalued through currency interventions, although the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has denied these claims. Taiwan is included in the advanced economies group by the International Monetary Fund, and in the h…
