Crisis and Climax of 1929։ Surrealism and the Imprints of Desire.

The Bar Kokhba Revolt (132–136 CE), also known as the Bar Kokhba War, the War of Betar, and the Third (or Second) Jewish–Roman War, was the last and most devastating of three major Jewish rebellions against the Roman Empire. Led by Simon bar Kokhba, the rebels established an independent Jewish state that lasted over three years before being crushed by the Romans, leading to the near-total depopulation of Judea proper, along with mass killings, enslavement, and displacement. Resentment toward Roman rule and national aspirations remained high in the Roman province of Judaea following the First Jewish Revolt. Around 130 CE, Emperor Hadrian planned to rebuild Jerusalem as Aelia Capitolina, a Ro…

A major worldwide financial crisis centered in the United States took place in 2008. The immediate cause of the crisis was the collapse of the 2000s U.S. housing bubble, which involved excessive speculation in property values by both homeowners and financial institutions, exacerbated by predatory lending and by deficiencies in regulation. The first phase was the subprime mortgage crisis, which began in early 2007 as mortgage-backed securities (MBS) tied to U.S. real estate, and a vast web of derivatives linked to those MBS, collapsed in value. A liquidity crisis spread to global institutions by mid-2007 and climaxed with the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers in September 2008, which triggered a…

The Tragedy of Macbeth, often shortened to Macbeth (), is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, estimated to have been first performed in 1606. It dramatises the physically violent and damaging psychological effects of political ambitions and power. It was first published in the Folio of 1623, possibly from a prompt book, and is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy. Scholars believe Macbeth, of all the plays that Shakespeare wrote during the reign of King James I, contains the most allusions to James, patron of Shakespeare's acting company. In the play, a brave Scottish general named Macbeth receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland. Consumed by his laten…
