MdMYB41L mediates stamen development and anthocyanin biosynthesis in apple.. MYB proteins play crucial roles in plant growth and development. In this study, we characterized MdMYB41L, a MYB transcription factor from apple ( Malus domestica ). Expression analysis revealed that MdMYB41L was highly expressed in leaves and anthers, and the protein was exclusively localized to the nucleus. Overexpression of MdMYB41L in Arabidopsis caused shorter siliques, anther indehiscence, and a lower seed setting rate. Artificial pollination analysis demonstrated that the stamen developmental defect resulting from MdMYB41L overexpression led to decreased fertility. The seeds from transgenic lines showed a dr…

Effects of different mulching methods on soil moisture, fruit tree growth and yield in apple root zone yield of apple. Mulching is an important measure to conserve moisture and increase yield in dryland orchards of the Loess Plateau, and it is critical to realize high and stable yield and sustainable development of fruit crops. Based on field positioning obervation, the comprehensive effects of different mulching methods on soil water storage, fruit tree growth and physiological status, yield were investigated. Treatments were straw mulching (SM), horticultural fabric mulching (BF), black plastic film mulching (BM), white plastic film mulching (WM) and no mulch…

In botany, a seed is a plant structure containing an embryo and stored nutrients in a protective coat called a testa. More generally, the term seed means anything that can be sown, which may include seed and husk or tuber. Seeds are the product of the ripened ovule, after the embryo sac is fertilized by sperm from pollen, forming a zygote. The embryo within a seed develops from the zygote and grows within the mother plant to a certain size before growth is halted. The formation of the seed is the defining part of the process of reproduction in seed plants (spermatophytes). Other plants such as ferns, mosses and liverworts, do not have seeds and use water-dependent means to propagate themsel…

Productivity and amarketable gualities of apple tree fruits of the Golden Delicious variety on low growing rootstocks depending on pruning. One of the main agrotechnical activities carried out in the garden is tree pruning. When studying the variety-double combinations of apple trees in certain environmental conditions, it is necessary to take into account the strength of growth, the density of fouling, the type of branching, the structure of fruit formations, which depends on the varietal characteristics and technologies of growing plantations. The author presents the results of studying the parameters of the influence of the degree of pruning of Golden Delicious apple trees grafted on low…

Evaluation of organic vinegar treatments and black gram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper] genotypes for the management of pod rot disease caused by Fusarium humuli.. Black gram ( Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper) is an important pulse crop valued for its nutritional benefits, soil-enriching nitrogen fixation, and use as animal feed. However, new diseases threaten its productivity, notably pod rot caused by Fusarium humuli , recently reported from Pantnagar, India. This study evaluated the efficacy of vinegars and pongamia oil under in-vitro and field conditions, and screened genotypes for resistance. In-vitro assays showed that Tebuconazole 25.9% EC achieved 100% myceli…

Detecting apple replant disease in the field - deciphering reasons for local growth depression.. Apple replant disease (ARD) arises from repeated apple (Malus domestica) planting in the same area, disrupting physiological and morphological plant functions. Recent studies demonstrated that ARD occurs locally with low mobility in soil. The patchy distribution of ARD makes field identification of its severity difficult. Moreover, variability in soil properties can affect growth. Here, we aimed to identify drivers of small-scale growth variations with a pair-wise sampling approach at two ARD-affected orchards. We selected neighboring trees showing maximum differences in stem diameter growth. Wi…

Productivity of apple tree of idared variety under different fertilization in repeatedly cultivated plantations. The results of the long-term studies of yield formation and fruit quality of Idared apple variety on seed and vegetative M4 wilding for re-cultivation on mineral nutrition, created by long-term application of various fertilizer systems on dark gray podzolic soil in the Right Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine have been considered. Throughout the growing period of the first and second generation of apple trees in the experimental garden organic (40 t/ha of cattle manure) and mineral fertilizer (N120R120K120) and their combination (20 t/ha of manure + N60R60K60) have bben used. Organic…

An apple is the round, edible fruit of an apple tree (Malus spp.). Fruit trees of the orchard or domestic apple (Malus domestica), the most widely grown in the genus, are cultivated worldwide. The tree originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, Malus sieversii, is still found. Apples have been grown for thousands of years in Eurasia before they were introduced to the American continent by European colonists. Apples have cultural significance in many mythologies (including Norse and Greek) and religions (such as Christianity in Europe). Apples grown from seeds tend to be very different from those of their parents, and the resultant fruit frequently lacks desired characteristics. Fo…
