Amiens (English: or AM-ee-ənz; French: [amjɛ̃] ; Picard: Anmien, Anmiens or Anmyin) is a city and commune in northern France, located 120 km (75 mi) north of Paris and 100 km (62 mi) southwest of Lille. With 136,449 inhabitants (2023), it is the prefecture of the Somme department in the Hauts-de-France region. This is a list of hospitals in France with sorting by city and name. As of 2004, about 62 percent of French hospital capacity was met by publicly owned and managed hospitals. The remaining capacity was split evenly (18 percent each) between non-profit sector hospitals (which are linked to the public sector and which tend to be owned by foundations, religious organizations or mutual-insurance associations) and by for-profit institutions. Because the insurance is compulsory, the system is effectively financed by general taxation rather than traditional insurance (as typified by automobile or home insurance, where risk levels determine premiums).

A prospective observational study of plasma concentrations and safety of combined intravenous lidocaine and epidural ropivacaine in laparotomy surgery.. Intravenous lidocaine (IVL), an alternative to epidural analgesia (EA) for laparotomies, has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and anti-hyperalgesic effects. However, its combination with EA raises concerns about systemic toxicity. This study aimed to assess the safety of this combination in patients undergoing laparotomy. We conducted a prospective observational study at Amiens University Hospital in France, involving adult patients scheduled for laparotomies. Intravenous lidocaine was administered at induction as a 1.5 mg/kg bolus (ideal bod…

Impaired endotoxin inactivation, rather than gut translocation, is associated with organ injury in cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass: An ancilliary analysis of a randomised control trial.. Backgrounds In patients with cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), postoperative inflammation is a driver of adverse outcomes. Endotoxaemia is one of the factors thought to trigger this inflammatory response. The mechanism behind high endotoxin activity (increased translocation vs. reduced inactivation capacity) has never been elucidated and may imply different therapeutic candidates. Objectives We aimed to evaluate, in patients with cardiac surgery with prolonged CPB, mechanisms a…
