Pełniejszy materiał źródłowy / excerpt
Software prototyping is the activity of creating prototypes of software applications, i.e., incomplete versions of the software program being developed. It is an activity that can occur in software development and is comparable to prototyping as known from other fields, such as mechanical engineering or manufacturing. A prototype typically simulates only a few aspects of, and may be highly different from, the final product. Prototyping has several benefits: the software designer and implementer can get valuable feedback from the users early in the project. The client and the contractor can compare if the software made matches the software specification, according to which the software program is built. It also allows the software engineer some insight into the accuracy of initial project estimates and whether the deadlines and milestones proposed can be successfully met. The degree of completeness and the techniques used in prototyping have been in development and debate since its proposal in the early 1970s.

Non-symbolic quantity estimation may be characterised by many signatures, yet we typically focus on only a few. When a person estimates non-symbolic quantities, they typically do so in a way that produces a characteristic set of behavioural patterns. For example, small quantities may be estimated with near-perfect accuracy, whereas estimates of larger quantities become increasingly variable. Consequently, attempts to identify the mechanisms underlying quantity estimation involve explaining not only how people are able to estimate quantities, but also how they do so in a way that gives rise to these recurring behavioural phenomena. Over the past several decades, an increasing number of candi…

Enhancing Product Quality in High-Variant Manufacturing: Combining Physics-Based Simulations and Data Science for Target Variable Estimation in an IoT- and Machine Learning-Driven Context.. Due to growing demands for quality, sustainability, and digitalization, data science and artificial intelligence are gaining importance across industries. The extensive product range in many sectors often poses considerable challenges. For example, machine learning (ML) models may struggle with limited data per production variant. The present paper proposes a methodology that integrates the fields of data science and physical simulations. The results from finite element method (FEM) simulations are utili…

Quaternionic response geometry for proteins: toward a noncommutative theory of ordered deformations.. Protein function may depend not only on endpoint conformations but also on the ordered deformation histories through which they are reached. This distinction is relevant to allostery, conformational switching, mutation-induced rearrangements, and epistatic effects, where different perturbation sequences may produce similar visible structures while retaining distinct internal transport histories. Current state-centered or endpoint-centered representations do not always preserve this order-sensitive information. The practical motivation is therefore to provide a foundation for future descript…

An embedded system is a specialized computer system—a combination of a computer processor, computer memory, and input/output peripheral devices—that has a dedicated function within a larger mechanical or electronic system. It is embedded as part of a complete device, often including electrical or electronic hardware and mechanical parts. Embedded systems control many devices in common use. In 2009, it was estimated that 98% of all microprocessors manufactured were used in embedded systems. Because an embedded system typically controls physical operations of the machine that it is embedded within, it often has real-time computing constraints. Modern embedded systems are often based on microc…

Avionics software is embedded software with legally mandated safety and reliability concerns used in avionics. The main difference between avionic software and conventional embedded software is that the development process is required by law and is optimized for safety. It is claimed that the process described below is only slightly slower and more costly (perhaps 15 percent) than the normal ad hoc processes used for commercial software. Since most software fails because of mistakes, eliminating the mistakes at the earliest possible step is also a relatively inexpensive and reliable way to produce software. In some projects however, mistakes in the specifications may not be detected until d…
