Pełniejszy materiał źródłowy / excerpt
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that incorporates retro-futuristic technology and aesthetics prominently inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery and design. Steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the Victorian era and the Belle Époque, or the American frontier where steam power remains in mainstream use, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power. Steampunk features anachronistic technologies or retro-futuristic inventions as people in the 19th century might have envisioned them – distinguishing it from Neo-Victorianism – and is likewise rooted in the era's perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, and art. Such technologies may include fictional machines like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne. Other examples of steampunk contain alternative history-style presentations of such technology as steam cannons, lighter-than-air airships, analog computers or such digital mechanical computers as Charles Babbage's Analytical Engine. Steampunk may also incorporate additional elements from the genres of fantasy, horror, historical fiction, alternate history or other branches of speculative fiction, making it often a hybrid genre. Science fiction (often shortened to sci-fi or abbreviated SF) is the genre of speculative fiction that imagines advanced and futuristic changes in technology, scientific knowledge, or biological systems. The elements common to science fiction have increased over time: from space exploration, extraterrestrial life, time travel, and robotics; to parallel universes, dystopian societies, and biological manipulations; and, most recently, to information technology, transhumanism, posthumanism, and environmental challenges. Science fiction often explores human responses to the consequences of these types of projected or imagined scientific advances. The precise definition of science fiction has lo…

Cyberpunk derivatives, variously also called literary punk genres, science fiction punk (sci-fi-punk), punk fiction, or punk-punk, are a collection of genres and subgenres in speculative fiction, science fiction, retrofuturism, aesthetics, and thereof, with the suffix -punk, collectively derived from the science fiction subgenre cyberpunk. In correspondence with cyberpunk, they are centered around visual worldbuilding, but, rather than necessarily sharing the digitally and mechanically focused setting of cyberpunk, these derivatives can display other qualities that are drawn from or analogous to cyberpunk. The basic idea is a focus on technology, usually a world built on one particular tech…

Solarpunk is a genre of speculative art and fiction which centers on depictions of ecologically sustainable futures. It has been described as the inverse of cyberpunk. The "solar" represents solar energy as a renewable energy source and an optimistic vision of the future that rejects environmental pessimism, while the "punk" refers to do it yourself and the countercultural, post-capitalist, anarchic and decolonial aspects of creating such a future. Solarpunk works to address how the future might look if humanity succeeded in solving major contemporary challenges with an emphasis on sustainability, human impact on the environment, and addressing climate change and pollution. It borrows eleme…
