In cells, antioxidants such as glutathione, mycothiol, or bacillithiol, and enzyme systems like superoxide dismutase, inhibit damage from oxidative stress. Dietary antioxidants include vitamins A, C, and E. Dietary supplements marketed as antioxidants have not been shown to improve human health.
