Artificial cranial deformation or modification, head flattening, or head binding is a form of body alteration in which the skull of a human being is deformed intentionally. It is done by distorting the normal growth of a child's skull by applying pressure. Flat shapes, elongated ones (produced by binding between two pieces of wood), rounded ones (binding in cloth), and conical ones are among those chosen or valued in various cultures. Typically, the alteration is carried out on an infant, when the skull is most pliable. Because of this, artificial cranial modification most commonly occurs during the first three years of the individual's life.

Radiation therapy or radiotherapy (RT, RTx, or XRT) is a treatment using ionizing radiation, generally provided as part of cancer therapy to either kill or control the growth of malignant cells. It is normally delivered by a linear particle accelerator. Radiation therapy may be curative in a number of types of cancer if they are localized to one area of the body, and have not spread to other parts. It may also be used as part of adjuvant therapy, to prevent tumor recurrence after surgery to remove a primary malignant tumor (for example, early stages of breast cancer). Radiation therapy is synergistic with chemotherapy, and has been used before, during, and after chemotherapy in susceptible…

Infant feeding is the practice of feeding infants. Breast milk provides the best nutrition when compared to infant formula. Infants are usually introduced to solid foods at around four to six months of age. Breastfeeding aids in preventing anemia, obesity, and sudden infant death syndrome, and promoting digestive health, immunity, intelligence, and dental development. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusively feeding an infant breast milk for the first six months of life and continuing for one year or longer as desired by infant and mother, and states that formula is an "acceptable substitute". During prehistoric times, breastfeeding infants was the only option for nutrition…

The infant gut virome assembles rapidly and predictably over the first three years of life. Abstract Assembly of the gut microbiota in infancy is an important health determinant, yet the viral component, the virome, remains poorly described. Here, we conduct a meta-analysis of 12 infant cohorts across 8 countries to model gut virome development over the first three years of life. Our results revealed distinct diversity patterns, where viral richness increased significantly over the first eight months of life alongside a loss of community evenness. We define virome developmental velocity, the rate of change between sequential samples, which significantly decreased over time. This was mirrore…
